Baby shower themes give your party a special meaning!
Every baby shower should have a theme to make the party extra special, more entertaining,
and memorable. When planning a baby shower try to plan a
theme that the guests can participate as well as it having
a special meaning to the new mom. The baby shower can be
very casual with some colorful decorations and
buffet style food or a little more upscale with
personalized baby shower favors and a sit down meal.
Make your shower planning easier with a theme.
The secret to great party planning is having a common theme
to follow. The theme sets the atmosphere for the party.
Once you have chosen a theme you can plan the decorations,
invitations, games,
baby shower favors, and food choices around the theme.
Keep in mind that you want to choose a theme that will please the mommy,
entertain the guests, and one that is easy to plan.
Nursery Colors/Theme - plan decorations and favors around the nursery colors. Guests can bring gifts that are geared toward the theme of the baby’s room and nursery colors.
Holidays - if the baby shower falls around a holiday it is the perfect opportunity to plan a festive and memorable party. Besides the obvious holidays, Christmas, Halloween, Easter, and Thanksgiving, there is also the fourth of July, Mothers Day, Fathers Day (if it is a couples party or a Daddy party), Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and New Years.
Noah’s Ark - a great theme for a twins baby shower. Just think 2 of everything. Rather than 1 big cake you can have 2 small cakes, decorate with twin stuffed animals, and have guests bring 2 identical gifts.
Seasonal - there are endless possibilities when you use one
of the four seasons as a theme. You could do a Winter Wonderland
with snowmen and snowflakes, Spring is Blooming with colorful
blooming flowers, Beach Baby Summer with beach chairs, pails,
shovels, and shells, or Autumn with warm multi-colored leaves
and baby pumpkins.
Character - this is a great choice for a baby shower if the nursery is being done in a particular animated character, such as Winnie-the-Pooh.
Pretty in Pink - everything pink and frilly.
It’s a Boy - think blue.
Little Princess or Little Prince - Decorate with Princess tiara’s or Kings crowns, and castles. Roll out a red carpet leading to the mommy’s seat or front door.
Old McDonald’s Farm - decorate with checkered table cloths, farm animals, and straw baskets.
A Star is Born - this is a great theme for a boy or girl. You can decorate with silver and gold stars, or if you know it’s a boy or girl, you can use the appropriate color stars. Make finger sandwiches and use a star cookie cutter to make them star shaped. Have the cake made in a star shape.
Teddy Bears - decorate with teddy bears table cloths, and arrange stuffed teddy bears around the room.
Sports - this a great theme for a daddy baby shower or a couples shower, especially if mom loves sports too.
English or Victorian Tea Party - decorate with lace table cloths and take out the good silver and fancy dishes. Serve finger sandwiches, scones, and tea, of course!
Pamper Mom Party - Plan a party at a local spa to pamper mom and have guests bring special gifts just for her. This a great theme for a mom that is having a second child and doesn’t need any baby stuff.
Diaper Party - this is a good theme for a mom that already has the majority of baby supplies or for a mom that is having her 2nd child. Everyone brings different size diapers and wipes. Diaper cakes makes a great table centerpiece as well as a practical gift.
These are just a few of countless baby shower themes. With
a little bit of imagination your baby shower can be a memorable
and fun event.
